Everett Man Identified as Driver who Died in Fatal Crash on US 2 Thursday Morning

The King County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the driver killed in a head-on crash between a reportedly stolen car and a pickup truck on Highway 2, east of Highway 9 last Thursday, as 24-year-old Shawn Patrick Vessey from Everett. Troopers say the car Vessey was operating was going westbound on Highway 2 at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck head-on. The pickup was driven by a 45-year-old Snohomish man. His 16-year-old son was also in the truck. That man remains at Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. The 16-year-old was not seriously injured. Highway 2 was closed for hours while troopers investigated. The State Patrol says the car had been reported stolen from a residence near Maltby.
