Best Places to See USS Nimitz Arrive in Everett

March 9, 2012

Everett

The USS Abraham Lincoln passes the Mukilteo Lighthouse for the last time in December

I asked a few navy friends of mine and they all say there’s nothing quite like the first time a ship pulls into its new homeport. Sailors manning the rails, family on the dock and people parked on hillsides waving as the ship is maneuvered to the pier. That should happen in Everett around 10am this morning as the USS Nimitz arrives at Naval Station Everett. Top viewing spots include Lighthouse Park at the Mukilteo waterfront. The outdoor deck at Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo, Harborview Park on Mukilteo Blvd, just west of Glenwood, Grand Avenue Park at about 18th and Grand. There’s also that secret curve on Laurel drive off 33rd that I’m not supposed to tell anyone about…

Welcome to all Nimitz sailors and families. Search the MyEverettNews.com archives for lots of information about your new homeport city.
