Wanna own your own liquor store in Everett?

The State of Washington is in the process of auctioning off all 167 of its State-owned liquor stores including all five stores in Everett. The auction started this morning and will go for another 42 days. This is happening because of the passage of the initiative last November that is getting the State out of the liquor business in favor of large retailers and big box stores. A provision in the law allows the State owned stores to go to auction and be operated by the winning bidders. Currently there are five liquor stores up for auction in the Everett City limits.

Store 193 at 2027 Broadway – current bid: $1000.00

Store 125 at 3332 Cedar – current bid: $1000.00

Store 127 at 1203 SE Everett Mall Way – current bid: $1000.00

Store 75 at 52nd and Evergreen (Claremont) – current bid: $1000.00

Store 116 at 112th and 19th Ave. SE (Silver Lake) – current bid: $1000.00

Now you’re not bidding on the store, just the right to operate the store at its current location. You still have to negotiate a lease with the location’s landlord as well as buy inventory, shelving, etc. There’s also another catch. The State is also considering bids on all 167 stores combined.

If you’re still interested, here’s the link to all of the auction information.
