Free Town Hall Meeting from 8:00am - 2:00pm at Everett Performing Arts Center

The Latino Civic Alliance will holding an open community forum tomorrow to discuss issues affecting the Latino community in Everett, Snohomish County and Skagit County. Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson, City Council President Shannon Affholter and Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon are scheduled to welcome the participants at 9:00am. Following that, there will be discussions on Housing, Economic Development, Immigration, Juvenile Justice and Civic Engagement and Voter Registration. Throughout the event various politicians including Congressman Jay Inslee, 1st Legislative State Rep Luis Moscoso, 44th District Senator Steve Hobbs, 46th Legislative State Rep Phyllis Guterrez-Kennedy and 44th District Rep Mike Hope will have five minutes to talk to the group. According to their website, the Latino Civic Alliance began in 2005 as an event held in Olympia named Latino Legislative Day, promoted as a day at the State Capital to discuss and learn about the issues affecting Washington State Latino’s. The Alliance has grown since then and evolved into a non-partisan group that promotes community participation for all Latinos in Washington State. Tomorrow’s event is being held at the Everett Performing Arts Center at 2710 Wetmore Avenue in downtown Everett. Registration begins at 8:00am and the event runs until 2:00pm.
