Providence Everett to be blessed

Seattle Archbishop to bless Helipad, Helicopter and Crew today

Here’s something that you won’t see everyday,

This afternoon, Most Reverend J. Peter Sartain, Archbishop of Seattle, will be greeted by nearly 1,000 Providence Regional Medical Center employees, physicians, volunteers, and special guests as he makes his way through the new medical tower, blessing each floor, starting in the lobby and then moving to the rooftop helipad.

After blessing the helipad, helicopter and flight crew, the Archbishop and his procession will descend the tower floor-by-floor, stopping to bless and sprinkle holy water on the various departments housed below.  The ceremony will conclude on the lowest level with the blessing of Emergency Services, a trauma department larger than an NFL Football Field.

The Archbishop of Seattle, dressed in formal vestments, miter and crozier, will lead a procession that includes a Cross Bearer, a server with holy water, and other Liturgical Ministers.

The new hospital tower, located at 1700 14th street in north Everett, will hold an open house this weekend and then open for business on Tuesday June 14th.[ad#Google Adsense]
