CITY OF EVERETT CITIZENS’ COMMISSION
ON SALARIES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS
SALARY SCHEDULE FOR 2012 – 2013

The City of Everett Citizens’ Commission on Salaries of Elected Officials pursuant to Section 2.8 of the City of Everett Charter hereby adopts the following salary schedule for elected officials:

1. Mayor: The Mayor’s salary for 2011 is and shall remain $12,913.06 per month through December 31, 2011. Effective January 1, 2012, the Mayor’s salary for 2012 will be $12,913.06 per month.

Effective January 1, 2013, the Mayor’s salary for 2013 will be the Mayor’s base wage in effect on December 31, 2012, increased by the following percent of the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) (1982-84 = 100) for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton area for the June 2011 to June 2012 index:
100% cost of living raise if CPI is 0 to 2.49%,
95% cost of living raise if CPI is 2.5% to 3.49%,
90% cost of living raise if CPI is 3.5% to 4.0%. The overall salary increase shall not exceed 3.6% (90% x 4.0%).

If the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) (1982-84=100) for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton area for the June 2011 to June 2012 index is zero percent (0%) or below, the Mayor’s salary for 2013 shall be the same as the Mayor’s 2012 salary.
2. City Council Members: The City Council members’ salary for 2011 is and shall remain $2,189.96 per month per Council member through December 31, 2011. Effective January 1, 2012, the City Council members’ salary for 2012 will be $2,189.96 per month per Council member.

Effective January 1, 2013, the City Council members’ salary for 2013 will be the Council members’ base wage in effect on December 31, 2012, increased by the following percent of the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) (1982-84 = 100) for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton area for the June 2011 to June 2012 index:
100% cost of living raise if CPI is 0 to 2.49%,
95% cost of living raise if CPI is 2.5% to 3.49%,
90% cost of living raise if CPI is 3.5% to 4.0%. The overall salary increase shall not exceed 3.6% (90% x 4.0%).

3. City Council President/Mayor Pro Tem: The salary for the City Council member designated as City Council President/Mayor Pro Tem is and shall be thirty percent (30%) in addition to his/her salary as a City Council member. This additional compensation shall not be adjusted for changes in the cost of living.

4. Municipal Court Judges: The salary for a full-time Everett Municipal Court Judge shall be equal to that of a Washington State District Court Judge (currently $141,710 per year) and shall automatically be adjusted at such times and with the same effective dates as any adjustment to the salary of Washington State District Court Judges. The salary for a part-time Everett Municipal Court Judge shall be calculated on the pro-rated share of this full-time salary.

5. Benefits: All benefits for the Mayor, City Council members, and Municipal Court Judges are provided for outside the scope of this schedule.
