Everett Animal Shelter Out of Canned Dog Food, “Can” You Help?

March 13, 2015

Everett, Everett Government

Received word today that the Everett Animal Shelter is out of canned dog food. Now no the dogs aren’t in danger of starvation but canned dog food is part of a treat that the dogs get after returning from exercise and having their kennels cleaned. Dee Cordell from the shelter explained a Kong to MyEverettNews.com in an email.

Kong

This is a Kong that’s stuffed with canned and dry dog food that’s given as a treat after the dog’s kennels are cleaned.

“Every morning the dogs are moved to outside kennels so their indoor kennels can be cleaned. When they return to their indoor kennel there is the treat of a goodie filled KONG waiting for them. The KONG is filled with canned food, dry food, and a milk bone is the cherry on top. It’s a treat for the dogs, and gives them something to think about and do in their kennel (in between walks with volunteers).”

Cordell says they use good quality canned dog foods that do not contain red food coloring. Most moderately priced food is dye free and the amount they go through depends on the number of dogs in the shelter. “We’ll welcome any amount,” she added. The shelter is located at 333 Smith Island Rd Everett, WA and is open 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week. There are several ways to donate to the Everett Animal Shelter beyond canned dog food if you’re so inclined.
