It only took about 10 minutes for a Seagull to free a seagull

In Everett, a Seagull is more than just a bird. It’s a symbol of pride and the mascot for Everett High School. Tonight when Ron Clark of Everett saw a seagull with its leg stuck, hanging upside down, from a light pole on Hewitt Avenue just east of Broadway, he contacted Everett Firefighters. Also on the scene was Everett High athlete Matt Ozmun, in his Letterman’s jacket with the proud Sam the Seagull on the front. Who better to deal with a stuck seagull than an athletic Seagull? Everett firefighters outfitted Ozmun with bunker gear and a helmet and up in the bucket he went accompanied by firefighter Brent Weir. Ozmun freed the bird’s leg and it immediately flew away, reportedly just looking back briefly as if to say “Thank you, Everett Seagulls always watch out for each other.” You can click here to see a video of the seagull being freed Video credit: Emma Weir, age 10.
