It was kind of fun to watch Friday afternoon as shopper after shopper took a sample from the tray at the front counter, tasted it and then headed straight to the cooler to pick up a tin or three of WSU’s Cougar Gold Cheese. While the new WSU Connections store opened quietly a couple of weeks ago, they’re holding the grand opening this weekend. “There are even a lot of Huskies buying Cougar Gold Cheese,” said store manager Dave Walsh. “People love it.” There’s a lot more to the store than cheese including shirts, pennants, hats and wine. There’s also a display of WSU’s accomplishments in research. WSU is growing its ties in Everett as it prepares to prepares to take over administration of the University Center of North Puget Sound from Everett Community College in a couple of months. Walsh also manages the WSU Connections Store in downtown Seattle and said response to the Everett store has been positive. The store is open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 6pm and is located at 2809 Colby Ave. in downtown Everett.
