Strawberries at Everett Farmers Market

The Everett Farmer’s Market begins its 21st year this Sunday.

This Sunday marks the return of the Everett Farmer’s Market to West Marine View Drive next to Lombardi’s on the Everett Waterfront. The market has been very progressive in helping people find ways to incorporate fresh local fruits and vegetables into their daily diet. Market manager Karen Erickson has passed along another way the market will be helping this year….

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides fresh fruit and vegetables to lower-income seniors and supports local farming by increasing the use of farmers markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture.  Produce is also purchased directly from farmers for delivery to seniors

How It Works

The program operates June through October, and serves eligible seniors (income below 185% of Federal Poverty Level, AND 60 and older) in one of two ways;

  •     redeem farmers market checks worth a total of $40 for produce at authorized  farmers markets or roadside stands OR
  •     local produce is purchased directly from farmers and delivered to eligible homebound seniors or to meal sites and senior housing for pick up by seniors

Snohomish County Senior Services only has 1700 vouchers available and will be having a lottery on June 13th.

Seniors can apply for SFMNP vouchers at the Senior Center, 3205 Lombard in Everett, or at Senior Services located at 11627 Airport Rd, Ste. B, Everett, 98204.

Everett Farmers Market at the Port of Everett, will also have Applications available beginning Sunday, May 18th at the Manager’s Booth.

Call Senior Services phone number for more information at 425-347-1229.
Seniors must submit their application prior to June 13 to either of the above collection points, or their application must be postmarked before June 13.

A lottery will be held after June 13, and 1700 applicant’s names will be drawn and sent vouchers. All applicants will be notified of the results of the lottery by mail
