The forecast is for sunny skies and lots of smiles as the Original Everett Farmer’s Market celebrates 20 years. Here’s a bit about the festivities marking the event…

Marie Brayman, who founded the market, will be there as well as former owners Tone and Inger Hutton and current owners Gary Purves and Karen Erickson.

There will be cake, cookies, live music and a special appearances by Clover the Fairy.

This year the market is asking shoppers to BYORB Bring Your Own Reusable Bag and asking vendors to not distribute items in plastic bags. They’re also working on a Share-A-Bag program.

Here’s more information taken directly from the official web page of the Everett Farmer’s Market

The Everett Farmers Market was founded in July 1994 by Marie Brayman with a vision and just a few vendors in an empty, unpaved lot just west of what is now Lowes Hardware store. Marie had the determination and patience to get the market off the ground and nurture it through its early growing pains. Old time vendors remember standing on large rocks in the rain and mud, with water running between their feet, waiting for customers to find the market. click here to read more about the history of the Market.

Port of Everett has paved the lot, added electricity, access to fresh water, and even 220 volt electricity at our request, all to help make the market easier and more accessible for customers to move through the Market. The Port Staff has worked with the Market Managers and the market’s neighbors to allow everyone to share parking and facilities in a way that lets everyone be successful.
