Lots Of Cleanup Ahead As Wind Storm Batters Everett And Snohomish County

Editor’s Update 7:00 AM Saturday morning: At this hour Snohomish PUD reports more than 146,000 customers without power in Snohomish County.
In Everett, there are more than 20,000 PUD customers still in the dark.
Be cautious if you venture out and treat any downed wires you see as live.
Trees have fallen on many houses and taken down lots of power lines across the city so restoration may take a significant amount of time in some cases.
There are reports of smashed windows and burglaries at some Everett businesses.

AS of 1 AM Saturday morning there were more than 169,000 Sno PUD customers without power in Snohomish County.

Trees took out power lines and landed on cars in the 1800 block of Colby.

Editor’s Update 1:00 AM: At this time Snohomish PUD says there are more than 169,000 customers without power in Snohomish County.

Broadway is closed in both directions between Marine View Drive and 7th Avenue for multiple trees down.

Colby is closed in multiple blocks between 18th and 24th streets as trees have taken down power transmission lines and landed on top of cars and on front porches.

Multiple trees have come down on houses in north Everett.

Power is out in a patchwork throughout the city of Everett, Washington as transformers have blown and lines come down.

Everett’s office of Emergency Management has brought in CERT or Community Emergency Response Teams made up of trained volunteers to monitor areas where live wires are down, freeing up fire engines to respond to various spot fires, lines down and tree damage.

Puget Sound Energy has responded to at least one gas leak after a root ball from a toppled tree tore through a gas line outside of a home.

A reminder, intersections where the traffic lights are out, revert to four-way stops.
