It began with a call to the 2100 block of Madison Saturday afternoon. The area in front of an apartment building was blocked off for more than 24 hours while investigators worked.
It ended with the booking of a suspect late Sunday afternoon into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of 2nd degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Major Crimes detectives investigate weekend homicide in Everett.
On the afternoon of March 28th, officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Madison St when a female called 911 to report her 67 year-old husband missing. The husband left their Mukilteo home earlier in the day to check on their Madison St rental property but did not return home. The female drove to the Madison St address and found her husband’s truck and cell phone, but he was not there. Additionally, she reported seeing one of the male tenants, cleaning blood off the sidewalk before leaving the location. Arriving officers observed fresh blood outside the building and forced entry into the tenant’s unit. The husband was not there but officers discovered more blood inside.
Fearing the husband had been abducted or seriously injured, detectives with Major Crimes were dispatched. Through their investigation, detectives identified the 40 year-old tenant and found his vehicle in Marysville. Shortly thereafter, the tenant was also located and detained in Marysville. During the interview, the tenant gave no consistent version of what happened. Based on their investigation and physical evidence collected, detectives believe the husband was killed by homicidal means and his body was transported from the Madison St rental property by the tenant. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause of murder and tampering with physical evidence.
The vehicle was seized and pending a search warrant. Detectives continue their investigation.
