An announcement this afternoon on social media from Everett Police explaining new programs to try and stem a growing number of crimes in both north and south Everett, Washington.
The Everett Police Department takes the safety of those that live and work in our community very seriously. Some things we have done in response to violent crimes and gun-related crimes are the implementation of Area Emphasis Patrols (AEPs), which adds calls to our screens regularly throughout patrol shifts to ensure officers are regularly patrolling specific areas.
In addition, we have weekly overtime shifts available for what we have termed the NEED (North Everett Emphasis Detail) and SEED (South Everett Emphasis Detail) patrols. These emphasis details allow officers to concentrate on targeted areas without having to respond to calls for service.
Both details are currently largely concentrated around Jackson Park due to the recent homicide. We have also been collaborating with Parks and Facilities on ways to help make our parks safer.
Since January of 2023, the NEED patrol has resulted in 54 bookings; the SEED patrol has resulted in 161 bookings.
We are continuing these patrols as well as actively working on additional programs that will help us strategize on how we are addressing violent crime in our community.
