Editor’s Note: On June 18th candidates in the August 1st Primary Election for Everett City Council Districts, Everett School Board and Port of Everett Commissioner along with Snohomish County offices including Everett voters were invited to send a statement up to 500 words to MyEverettNews.com introducing themselves to our readers. Having grown up in Snohomish and moving to Everett before joining the Coast Guard in 2001, I share a deep connection and love for our community. While proudly serving our country, I returned to Everett in 2015 with a renewed commitment to making Everett an even better place to live and raise our families. As a homeowner in this wonderful city, I am invested in its future and dedicated to building a stronger Everett for all of us.

Proven Leadership for a United City:
As a community leader and retired military officer, I have the experience to serve as a unifying force on the City Council. I will bridge gaps amongst council members, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative approach to decision-making. It is essential to have a leader who can bring diverse perspectives together and work towards common goals for the betterment of our entire community.

Priorities for a Thriving Everett:
Ensuring Public Safety and Rehabilitation: We cannot turn a blind eye to the challenges of drug addiction and mental health disorders. I will champion mandatory help for those suffering from fentanyl addiction and other mental health issues, providing them with the support they need to recover and reintegrate into society. Everyone deserves a chance at a better future, and we must prioritize their well-being and the safety of our streets.

Affordable Housing and Homeownership:
I am committed to advocating for more affordable housing options, including townhomes and the conversion of apartment complexes into condominiums. By promoting affordable homeownership opportunities, we can empower individuals and families to build stability and invest in our community’s future.

Partnership with Snohomish County Government:
As the seat of the Snohomish County Government, Everett holds a unique position to influence and advocate for our city’s needs. I will work tirelessly to ensure that Everett receives its fair share of available funding to combat homelessness. By forging strong partnerships with the county, we can secure the resources necessary to provide comprehensive support and address this critical issue.

Inclusive Community Engagement:
To create a thriving and inclusive Everett, it is vital to engage with residents and listen to their concerns. I will prioritize community engagement through town hall meetings, neighborhood forums, and active participation in local associations. We can no longer tolerate plans to open shelters without direct neighborhood input and engagement!

Economic Growth and Entrepreneurship:
Supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth are crucial for a prosperous Everett. I will provide essential support to local businesses, creating an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and job creation. By nurturing economic growth, we can enhance the quality of life for all residents and create a thriving local economy.
