Everett Police and fire were called for a one-vehicle crash about 8:00 AM.
It happened about 8:00 AM Wednesday morning. Initial reports are an SUV was heading westbound on Everett Mall Way when it hit a sign post at the intersection of Evergreen Way.
The passenger was checked by Everett Police and Medics and declared deceased at the scene.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody by Everett Police and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a class A felony.
They were the only two in the vehicle.
Detectives with the EPD Traffic Safety Unit continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Eastbound Everett Mall Way was shut down for about four hours while detectives worked the scene.
