This is the third case in 7 months involving young kids exposed to Fentanyl.

Got a release this morning from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office concerning kids who were hospitalized after being exposed to Fentanyl. This is the third case in the past seven months involving very young children that deputies are investigating. In the earlier two cases, one in November and one earlier this month the children died. In this case the children were taken to the hospital and have since recovered. Here’s what was provided this morning by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives are investigating multiple young children being exposed to fentanyl in a hotel room. On May 23, around 2:45 p.m. deputies responded to a hotel in the 130 block of 128th Street SW to assist South County Fire with an unresponsive baby. The parents initially told medical personnel the 11-month-old may have been exposed to cleaning chemicals they used in the hotel room; however, the baby was unresponsive to appropriate medical treatment for chemical exposure. Medics then administered Narcan to the child and he regained consciousness. The 11-month-old boy, his 11-month-old twin sister and 11-year-old brother were all transported by aid to the hospital for medical evaluations.

Both 11-month-old children tested presumptive positive for fentanyl at the hospital; the 11-year-old boy did not. All three children have since recovered and have been released from the hospital. They are in the custody of Child Protective Services.

During the investigation, Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives discovered the children were in the care of their 36-year-old mother and 39-year-old father when the incident occurred. They were living at a hotel in Everett. Detectives served a search warrant on the hotel room and recovered fentanyl and meth.

Official toxicology reports from the lab are pending.

This remains an active investigation.
