Officer Involved Shooting Creates Lockdown In North Everett, Washington Neighborhood

Law enforcement officers run to an areal near 9th and Pine street.

Still waiting on more information but here is what we know about an officer involved shooting in Everett, Washington Friday afternoon.

Around 12:30 PM deputies and members of a law enforcement unit attached to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office were in the area of Rivers Landing Apartments, 3019 9th street in north Everett, Washington conducting an investigation when there was a report of shots fired toward officers. Shortly thereafter the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office put out a public alert on their social media feed that said.
Police in the area of River Landing Apts, 3019 9th St Everett, are searching for an armed male who is believed to have fired at police. Tall skinny white male wearing a black tank top and dark pants. Armed and dangerous, do not approach. If seen call 911. Updates to follow.

Officers from more than a dozen agencies responded to the call for assistance and headed to north Everett forming a perimeter between Broadway and East Marine View Drive and 8th to 12th street. WSU Everett, Everett Community College, Hawthorne Elementary all went into lockdown.

Officers blocked roads, drones were launched and a team involving several officers and a K-9 began tracking the suspect in the area. Multiple neighbors flagged down officers to report sightings.

After about thirty minutes there was a report of shots fired and Everett Medics were called to the area of an alley between Pine and Maple.

The next message from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said:

Update: The investigation will be handed over to an Independent Investigations Team (IIT) and a new PIO contact will be provided at that time.
That was followed by:
This investigation is being handed over to the King County Independent Force Investigation Team. All additional information and updates will come from their PIO.

The medic unit did not transport anyone and there were no reports of officers or other citizens injured. The area lockdowns were lifted around 1:15 PM.
