Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman provided MyEverettNews.com with the following statement regarding today’s shooting of an Everett Police Officer.

Wednesday morning, March 22nd, at approximately 3 am, an Everett police officer was shot while investigating a reported robbery. The officer was transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency medical treatment and is currently in stable condition. The investigation into the shooting has been turned over to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) and Chief Templeman will not be making any statements related to that investigation.

However, the chief would like to make the following public statement concerning the officer, his family and the Everett Police Department:

“This morning a member of our Everett police family was senselessly shot while investigating a robbery complaint in south Everett. Both Mayor Cassie Franklin and I have the utmost respect and admiration for the difficult and dangerous work our law enforcement professionals perform, day in and day out. Our focus right now is on supporting our officer and his family as he recovers from his injuries but ask our entire community to please keep not only our officer and his family in their thoughts, but all members of the Everett Police Department.”
