Rain Doesn’t Stop MLK March And Rally In Everett, Washington

About a hundred people braved a steady rain this morning and marched from Everett Memorial Stadium to the VOA’s Carl Gipson Senior Center to mark the first of two MLK Day celebrations in Everett, Washington this weekend. After some speeches the crowd of marchers went up 37th street to Colby and then north on Colby to Wall Street, east to Lombard and then south to the Carl Gipson Center. There a program featuring Prodigies for Peace winners was held. Here are a few photos from the March. Click photo to enlarge


 
While the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday is on Monday there will be another event for the public in Everett, Washington on Sunday. The Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee is having a Sunday Celebration from 3:30 PM until 5:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church 2936 Rockefeller, in Everett. This event features Sunday Service in conjunction with speakers, art & essays, and fellowship to celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and this year’s theme “The Urgency of Now; From Dream to Reality”
