While it was virtual during the pandemic it was all hands on and in person today at the Old Navy Store at the Everett Mall as the Salvation Army organized a back to school shopping event for kids from Everett and Marysville.

Captain Caleb Fankhauser with the Salvation Army Everett Corps told us there were about 60 kids from Everett and 20 from Marysville who were paired up with one of more than 40 volunteers from the Everett area along with partners of the Salvation Army who took them on a shopping spree around the Old Navy Store at the Everett Mall. Each child had up to $150 to spend on new back to school clothes. Angie, who is the General Manager of the Old Navy Store told us they also discounted the prices 20% for each student to help stretch their buying power. “We’re are so excited to have this event back in person this year,” she said with a smile.

Television personalities, bankers, Everett Police Officers and many other volunteers participated and had as much or more fun than the students. Here are a few photos from today’s event.
