Snohomish County Pride Month Kickoff In Downtown Everett Wednesday

This Wednesday from 12 Noon – 4 PM Snohomish County officials are inviting the public to a kickoff event for Pride Month. It will happen on the Snohomish County Campus at Wall and Rockefeller in downtown Everett, Washington. Here are the details.

An event to kickoff Pride Month in Snohomish County will be hosted on June 1, 2022, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., on the Snohomish County Campus at 3000 Rockefeller Ave in Everett. Building off a successful flag raising ceremony in 2021, with the support of Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers and with guidance from leaders within the LGBTQIA+ community, Council Chair Megan Dunn and Councilmember Stephanie Wright are expanding the event this year as an opportunity to engage, inspire, and celebrate.

“In Snohomish County, we celebrate Pride Month to affirm the value of everyone in our community,” said Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers. “I urge residents to join us in celebrating the members of our LGBTQIA+ community and their contributions to a thriving Pacific Northwest.”

“I am excited to kick off Pride Month in Snohomish County with what is sure to be a fantastic event,” said Council Chair Megan Dunn. “The LGBTQIA+ community brings so much to our county, and I am grateful for the opportunity to center and lift up their voices and contributions.”

The Snohomish County Pride Month Kickoff Event will officially begin with the raising of the Progress Flag at noon. There will be a resource fair that includes health screenings, voter registration, community group information, and legal services. Entertainment and speakers will be featured from 2:30-4p, and food trucks will be on site and ready to serve over the lunch hour. All events will be in the plaza off of Oakes and Wall Streets.

“Snohomish County is a welcoming one. This is a wonderful and important opportunity to celebrate, support, and learn from our friends, families, and neighbors,” said Councilmember Stephanie Wright.

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is held each June to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City on June 28, 1969, marking the beginning of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. On June 1st, 2021, with support from Executive Dave Somers, Councilmembers Dunn, Wright, and Mead hosted the first Pride Flag raising ceremony on the Snohomish County campus and were joined by more than 50 residents and interested individuals.
