Stonecipher held that same position in 2021 and in nominating her as President this year councilmember Judy Tuohy stressed the need for experienced leadership at the President’s position.
During discussions on Stonecipher’s nomination councilmember Liz Vogeli expressed her interest in being President and if not stated she would like to chair a committee to develop a process to select new City Council leadership in the future. When the vote was called, Vogeli joined the others in voting for Stonecipher.
The four new councilmembers took their first votes and while approving adding electronic signature authority for the mayor to sign contracts, agreed to have the administration re-work a separate proposal on who is authorized to sign contracts other than the mayor. That will come back at a future meeting.
Councilmembers also had their first executive session of the year and then approved a legal settlement awarding $50,000.00 to a woman who suffered a fall at Kasch Park a few years ago.
