City Council Approves Funding For Upcoming Events

Wednesday night the Everett City Council unanimously approved $150,000.00 from the City’s lodging tax fund to lend financial support to ten upcoming events that will bring tourists and overnight stays to Everett this year. The hotel/motel tax fund grants, or LTAC grants, is funding available to non-profits and public agencies for projects that assist with tourism development and promotion in the city of Everett. The grant program is made possible through taxes paid by consumers when they stay in paid lodging in the city of Everett and overseen by the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. Here’s the detail from the agenda item.

Project summary statement:
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) along with the Budget and Finance committee reviewed ten (10) applications for the second round of LTAC grants for events/projects happening between June 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

The LTAC reviewed and discussed all applications received on or before May 14, 2021 to recommend the best allocation of current Lodging Tax revenues in an amount not to exceed $150,000 for round two of the LTAC awards.
The Total amount of grant recommendations in an amount not to exceed $150,000.00 is as follows:

Cruzin to Colby $17,500.00
Delta Garden Festival $1,500.00
Fisherman’s Village Music Festival $30,000.00
Fourth of July $15,000.00
Historic Everett Theatre $10,000.00
Jetty Island Days $25,000.00
Schack Art Center $15,000.00
Upper Left Beerfest $18,000.00
Village Theatre $15,000.00
Yankee Doodle Dash $3,000.00
Total $150,000.00
