Providence Taps Darren Redick To Replace Kim Williams As CEO For Northwest Region

Following a national search, Darren Redick has been selected as chief executive for the Providence Northwest Washington Service Area, which includes Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) and Providence Medical Group Northwest. He begins in his new position this week.

Redick brings more than 30 years of experience in health care operations, leadership, and strategic planning. He has served in the Northwest Service Area since 2009 and is intimately familiar with the important role Providence has in our communities. He is a servant-leader who is committed to Providence’s Mission to care for all, especially the poor and vulnerable.

A native of Alaska, he began his career as a civil engineer, before joining Providence Alaska in 1988. He later moved to Providence Seattle to serve as the assistant administrator of Support Services. From 2000 – 2009, he led Facilities, Real Estate, and Construction for Swedish Health Services in Seattle. In that role, he directed leasing, design, construction, and management for more than 4.2 million square feet of space, and successfully completed and opened a new $140 million Orthopedic Institute. For the last 12 years, Redick has served in the Northwest Service Area, and in 2013, he became executive director of operations and VP of Professional & Support Services.

Highlights of his tenure in the Northwest Service Area include developing PRMCE’s Service Operations Center, which brings key operational information to a central hub in real time. He also led construction, commissioning, and operational transition for the Cymbaluk Medical Tower, which included the ability to create patient units with negative air flow that can be used in a pandemic. Both the Service Operations Center and the foresight to build rooms with negative air flow have proven invaluable ever since PRMCE admitted the first known COVID-19 patient in the U.S.

As he transitions into his new role, Redick outlined three of his top priorities:

· The continued growth and development of excellent clinical care to meet the increasing needs of our communities. He is committed to growing for the future and providing critical services and world-class care in Snohomish County, so patients don’t need to go to Seattle. And he understands the important role that community philanthropy plays, which has funded so much of that growth over the last 10 years.

· He is passionate about equity in all its forms. Health equity in our communities, equity for our patients, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in our caregiver workforce. He believes in improving the patient and caregiver experience by developing a more diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

· Finally, and most importantly, Redick is dedicated to the Mission of Providence. He wants to continue to expand Providence’s community involvement work, with a focus on serving those most in need. He has strong relationships with community leaders and partner organizations and is committed to furthering those relationships to improve the health and well-being of the community.

Redick also serves on the YMCA Snohomish County Board of Trustees, NW Healthcare Response Network Board, Hospital Central Services Association Board, and Everett Transitional Care Unit Board. He previously served on the Red Cross Snohomish County Board, and in 2018 received the Seattle Magazine Leaders in Health Care Award.
