Sorticulture Moving To Downtown Everett June 11th – 13th

It’s out of Legion Park and into downtown for the annual Garden Arts Festival in Everett, Washington.

The City of Everett is planning to hold its annual Sorticulture Garden Arts Festival June 11-13. This year the outdoor celebration of handcrafted art, plants, flowers and locally made outdoor products will take place in downtown Everett.

The new location in downtown on Wetmore Avenue, between Hewitt and Everett avenues, will make it easier to follow current COVID-19 safety guidelines. Free to the public, Sorticulture opens daily at 10 a.m. and closes Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

“Safety and supporting small businesses are top priorities during these challenging times,” said Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin. “This new location offers the room we need to meet social distancing and capacity requirements, and will bring business to downtown and highlight the great retailers and restaurants we have in Everett.”

More than 100 artists, plant nurseries and vendors are participating in this year’s festival. Workshops will feature Ciscoe Morris and other plant experts to answer gardeners’ toughest questions. Other types of entertainment are yet to be determined and are subject to the COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event.

“Sorticulture is Everett’s official start of the summer season. Things will be different this year due to the pandemic, but we’re thrilled to bring back this iconic, fun event,” said Tyler Chism, the City’s placemaking coordinator. “People love attending Sorticulture and it’s a great way to support artists and small businesses.”

Parking is free downtown on weekends. Attendees are encouraged to park at Everpark Garage, just two blocks from the event. Guests may also take Everett Transit or ride their bike and park it at a secured valet bicycle corral staffed by Sharing Wheels.

Snohomish County is currently in Phase 3 of the Governor’s Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery plan. In the event Snohomish County rolls back to Phase 2 or event restrictions are tightened, Sorticulture may be postponed or cancelled.
