Word out from the Everett Schools today that athletic competition will start next week throughout the District but will do so without families or fans allowed to watch in person. Here’s a letter sent to parents today from the Athletic Director for Everett Schools.
Dear High School Families –
We are extremely excited to be able to offer high school fall sports beginning February 22. It has been a long time since kids were able to play for their school. Things will be a bit different this year for athletics, just like everything else in our world.
In order to offer high school athletics, there are many challenges and restrictions we must address to ensure the safety of the athletes, coaches and officials who make the programs function. Due to these restrictions, the schools in our conference will not permit spectators to attend athletic events at this time. Schools are working to set up and provide live streaming opportunities for the contests.
As restrictions ease, it is hoped spectators can be invited to watch in person in some capacity. We know this is another disappointment among many other disappointments over the past year.
Again, we will strive to bring fans into our facilities as restrictions ease and adding more people can be done safely. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s athletic director.
Thank you and stay safe,
Robert Polk
