At the corner of Hewitt and Maple the last bits of the Bast Building, one of the oldest buildings in Everett, Washington are about to be carted away.
Crews are finishing the demolition of the site of a three-alarm fire at Judd & Black back in September of last year. The main building (which had been covered with siding a couple decades ago) pre-dates Everett having been built in 1892.
It housed many businesses prior to Judd & Black including a pharmacy and reportedly was also home to a brothel at one time. You can learn more about the Bast Building here from Historic Everett.
The fire has been ruled an arson and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Damage was estimated in excess of three million dollars. No word yet on what may happen with that corner in the future.
