Various units of the Everett Police Department responded to the northwest corner of Evergreen Cemetery today after a report of suspicious circumstances. Major Crimes detectives from Everett Police were being assisted by technicians from the Washington State Patrol.

Everett Police Lt. Ryan Dalberg confirmed to MyEverettNews.com that they were investigating a suspicious death.

Detectives could be seen working in the wooded area west of Rucker’s tomb down to the driveway off 41st Street to the buildings that include offices for Frontier Communications, The Herald and Everett Clinic.

Dalberg said they were notified of the suspicious circumstances around one o’clock Friday afternoon and detectives spent the rest of the day and into the evening hours processing the scene.

When MyEverettNews.com stopped by to take photos of the activity Dalberg said they were just in the early stages of the investigation and could not provide additional information.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has been called and will determine the cause and manner of death along with the identity of the person who died while the Everett Police Major Crimes Unit investigates the circumstances.

We will update as more information is made available.
