Hoax Threat Delivered To Mukilteo Schools

December 13, 2018

Everett

Word in from Mukilteo Schools that they received threats Thursday that had been deemed a nationwide hoax. Here is more from Andy Muntz at the Mukilteo School District.

Mukilteo

Mukilteo Schools deemed there was no actual threat.

This is to let you know that several locations within the Mukilteo School District received email messages this morning that appear to be generic and outline a threat that would occur unless the school district pays a certain ransom in Bitcoins. We have notified law enforcement and the matter is being investigated. We understand that other organizations throughout the United States have received similar threats today and that the origin of these threats has been traced to a sender at an overseas location. While we believe these threats are not credible, we have asked our staff members to remain vigilant and to notify their administrator if they receive a threatening email or see or hear of anything that is unusual.
