In Everett, Police Chief Dan Templeman was out on DUI Emphasis. When we happened by one of his traffic stops he related he’d given out three tickets and a couple of warnings but had not yet stopped an impaired driver.
The Washington State Patrol had their mobile processing center set up at the 112th street weigh station to expedite processing of those arrested by officers.
Beyond Everett, representatives from Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, Bothell Police, Edmonds Police, Lynnwood Police, Marysville Police, Mountlake Terrace Police, Monroe Police, and Lake Stevens Police were doing high visibility patrols throughout the county.
By 9:30 PM there were already four arrests for impaired driving. The folks at SnoCoTargetZero tell MyEverettNews.com Friday night’s emphasis was dedicated to Miss Josie who was hit by an alleged DUI driver last week and severely injured. She is recovering at Harborview. We are taking DUI’s off the road in her honor, they said in a Tweet. Target Zero is the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission’s plan for zero traffic related deaths and serious injuries by 2030.
