Council Sends Plastic Bag Ban To General Government Committee For More Study
There are still many details to work out regarding the use of plastic bags.
The Everett City Council decided Wednesday night to send a proposed ordinance eliminating single use plastic bags within the Everett City limits to the general government subcommittee for further refinement and a plan of implementation.
Council members spoke in favor of the ordinance but indicated they wanted to make sure that they were providing enough notice to retailers on the implementation of the plan and also needed to find money in the budget to conduct public outreach and education before eliminating single use plastic bags in Everett, Washington.
The next meeting of the general government subcommittee is set for November 14th. There are 20 different plastic bag ordinances within Washington State.
