MyEverettNews.com received inquiries this afternoon about a large SWAT Team presence on 84th street SE near Xavier Way. The SWAT team was from south Snohomish County and we just received a press release from Edmonds Police explaining the activity. Here it is:

Two males were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Robbery, Assault and Investigation of Kidnapping after a man called Edmonds Police early Thursday morning reporting he had been robbed at gunpoint and his girlfriend had been kidnapped. As a result of excellent investigative work by the first officers on scene, a 43-year male and a 46-year old male, both from Everett, are in custody. The female was found safe and is being interviewed by detectives.

Officers responded to a call around 1:45am by a 31-year old Everett man saying the incident had occurred at the
Americas Best Value Inn, 22100 block of Highway 99, Edmonds. Officers located the man and got him medical attention at an Edmonds hospital for a broken finger and facial injuries sustained in the attack. Information obtained from that victim led officers to an address in Everett where a suspect vehicle was located and a continuous period of inter-agency cooperation began.

Everett Police officers assisted Edmonds officers with surveillance of the suspect residence in hopes of seeing the female and ensuring her safety. It was also known that one of the suspects had been actively evading law enforcement in the last few weeks and was wanted by the Department of Corrections and Marysville Police. He was known to be armed and dangerous before this investigation unfolded. The North Sound Metro SWAT Team was activated and Edmonds detectives obtained a search warrant for the Everett residence. Around 10:45am, the SWAT team approached the residence. The 43-year old came out and was taken into custody without incident. The other suspect and the female were not located at that time.

As the investigation continued, officers located the 46-year old suspect and the 26-year old female at an apartment complex south of Everett around 1:30pm. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. All parties were interviewed by Edmonds detectives.

The North Sound Metro SWAT Team includes members from the police departments of: Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Mill Creek, Bothell, Monroe, Redmond, Kirkland and Lake Forest Park. This investigation is still in its early stages and will be ongoing. If you have any other information please call the Edmonds PD tip line at 425-771-0212 or epdtips.edmondswa.gov .
