One person has been taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett after a rooming house fire on Broadway Wednesday night.

The fire was reported in the basement of a house in the 5600 block of Broadway shortly after 6:30 PM.

A man who’d been in the house was taken to be examined for possible smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries.

Everett Fire crews were able to get the fire out in about 20 minutes and both directions of Broadway were closed and traffic re-routed for about an hour.

At the time of this writing investigators were just beginning their work and there is no word yet on the cause or damage estimate.

The residents will have to stay out at least through tomorrow due to smoke and water damage.
