As part of its plan to make the court more visible, judges with the State Court of Appeals will be hearing cases in Everett on Thursday. The public is invited and here are the details if you’d like to observe…

Division One of the Washington State Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at the Everett Municipal Court on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.

“We are tremendously proud to welcome this distinguished panel of State Appellate Court judges to Everett,” said Presiding Judge Laura Van Slyck. “Many of our local practitioners are excited about the opportunity to see the Court in action and have already accepted our invitation to attend the arguments.”

The Court will hear two Snohomish County cases, two cases from Skagit County, one San Juan County case and one case out of Whatcom County. The three-judge panel deciding the cases will be comprised of Judge Marlin J. Appelwick (Seattle), Judge Stephen J. Dwyer (Edmonds) and Judge J. Robert Leach (Everett).

Division I hears appeals from the Superior Courts in King, Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom counties. The Court has the authority to overrule, remand, modify or affirm decisions of the trial court. For information regarding the Court, visit the Washington Courts Web site at www.courts.wa.gov.
