School will start in Everett on Wednesday September 9th.

It looks like an agreement has been reached between Everett Public Schools and Everett Education Association. Here’s a message posted late Friday night on the Everett School District webpage…

Everett Public Schools and the Everett Education Association reached tentative agreement on a new contract at 10:31 p.m. on August 28.

The Association will meet to ratify the agreement on September 1 at 11 a.m., and the district’s board of directors is expected to act on the contract at its September 8 regular board meeting. A copy of the proposed new Collective Bargaining Agreement will be posted to the board’s agenda on Monday, September 7.

Pending Association ratification of the new Agreement, schools will open and follow their regular FULL DAY schedules on Wednesday, September 9. The Wednesday after Labor Day has been the traditional first day of school for Everett Public Schools for many years.

Pending approval by the school board, the year-at-a-glance school calendar will be posted online and emailed to all parents on the first day of school. In mid-September, student’s will be provided copies of the new student art calendar.

“We are very pleased to have reached tentative agreement with the Association. It is welcome news that our teachers and students are heading back to the classrooms on time, and that together we are able to face the year ahead and focus collaboratively on student success,” said Superintendent Gary Cohn.
