We do this story every year cause it’s so much fun. Kids, many for the first time, catching fish and learning how to do something that doesn’t involve batteries, electrical cords or screens. The Annual Kids Fish-in is this Saturday at Silver Lake in south Everett. While you don’t have to own fishing gear, you do have to pre-register. Here’s the scoop from Everett Parks…
Everett Parks & Recreation and the Everett Steelhead & Salmon Club invite children, ages 4-14, to learn the basics of catching fish at the annual Kids Fish-In on Saturday, May 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Expert guides will be on hand to help up to 600 kids discover the fun of fishing.
“To watch the joy of delight on a young person’s face when they catch their first fish is, as they say, priceless,” said Parks Ranger Barry Martin.
Participants can bring their own rods, reels and tackle to Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake, 11405 W. Silver Lake Rd., Everett, and discover the fun of fishing.
The event is free, however registration is required. Get details and the registration form atwww.everettwa.gov/652/Kids-Fish-In or at the Recreation Office located at 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd.
