Serving on the Everett City Council is technically a part time job that pays just under $27,000.00 per year. (Except for the position of city council president which comes with 30% on top. That position tends to rotate each year.)
To serve on the the Everett City Council a candidate needs to be…
- A registered voter of the city of Everett at the time of filing
- A resident within the city limits of Everett for at least one year preceding election
- Council members are nonpartisan offices and candidates do not state a political party preference.
- Council members assume office January 1, 2016
The filing period for this fall’s election is May 11th – 15th and the filing fee is $262.79.
The primary election is August 4th with the general election set for November 3rd.
So for those of you who think you may want to get into Everett city politics at a very hands-on level, this fall may be a good time to throw your hat into the ring and make a difference.
There are other offices that have an impact on Everett up for election this fall including one port commissioner slot, two school board positions and most of the top Snohomish County Government positions including Executive, Sheriff, Assessor, Treasurer, Clerk and Auditor.
