MyEverettNews.com sat down with Kathy Rios who told us a bit about the cat that adopted a car dealership. It seems about 5 years ago a service technician got into a van to deliver it to a customer and discovered a small ball of fur curled up on the passenger seat. The ball of fur was a severely malnourished cat with its ribs showing and in ill-health. She did have a tag and staff at the dealership began working on contacting the owner. While attempting contact, the staff began feeding and taking care of the cat. After being unable to contact the owner workers began feeling a true attachment to the cat and she was responding in kind. The problem the dealership staff faced was convincing Mazda of Everett owner Jerry McCann to let them keep the cat. That job fell to office manager Andrea Green. Green approached McCann with the request of the staff and his response was simple. Name her after me and she can stay. The cat was then named Jeraldine and for the past 5 years has been having the run of the upstairs office area of the dealership.
Jeraldine has become a regular member of the staff, even having her picture in the weekly newspaper ads. She gets cards and letters from customers and has even helped sell a few cars. The issue now is that as Mazda of Everett moves to a new space the design of the facility is wide open. Where Jeraldine currently has a separate floor to herself to roam and interact with staff and customers, the new space is on one level and she could easily run out and onto busy highway 99.
To make sure Jeraldine is safe and can happily live out the rest of her 9 lives the dealership has made the hard decision to find a new home for her. She’s healthy and up to date on all of her shots but if you’re interested in adopting Jeraldine there are a few things you should know.
- She is an indoor cat.
- She loves people and likes to be held and cuddled
- She hasn’t been around other animals and is likely best as the only pet in the household
- You’ll have to go through an interview process with several very protective staff members.
To start the adoption process contact Kathy Rios at Mazda of Everett at 888-871-8777 or Email Kathy. Good luck to Jeraldine. We hope she finds a happy home.
