What started 20 years ago as a small gathering, has grown into an all day event as Everett’s Forest Park will again play host to Nubian Jam on Saturday. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event which is put on by the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee. Therese Quinn is one of the event organizers. “This is an opportunity to educate the public about African-American culture”, said Quinn. “We’re celebrating the richness of intersecting cultures.” A new addition this year is a wellness component between 11am and 2pm, offering free blood pressure and health screenings. Low income adults can also get free whooping-cough vaccinations. In addition there are various community and government groups participating along with lots of food and live music. Nubian Jam will run from 10am – 7pm at Forest Park, 802 Mukilteo Blvd. If you need more information you can contact Therese Quinn at (425) 870-3572 or send her an email here.
