City of Everett Seeking Young Person to Assist in Emergency Management

Everett is offering a great opportunity for someone 18-25 years old

Do you know someone just out of high school or community college with an interest in emergency management? The city of Everett has a volunteer position open that offers health benefits, a small monthly allowance and money for college. Here’s the details from Mary Schoenfeldt at the City of Everett…

We, at Everett Office of Emergency Management are looking for a dynamic person between the ages of 18 and 25 to fill an Americorps Volunteer position within our office.  This person will assist with Public Education, Outreach, Volunteer Coordination and other projects.  In return for their time, we will provide experience, training, and a wonderful opportunity to work with an award winning, respected Emergency Management team.

Although the position is a full time volunteer, there is a monthly stipend of $1125, basic health benefits, paid time off and an Educational Award of $5500 when the service term in complete.

This volunteer position will be from September 1, 2012 to July 15, 2013.  If someone is interested, please have them go to the Americorps national website, find the position posting and submit their application.  Or have them contact Mary Schoenfeldt  at (425) 257-7965 or Email mschoenfeldt@ci.everett.wa.us expressing interest through a short statement of why they are interested and a copy of a resume.   I can then direct them to the Americorps National website for the official process.  I hope to begin reviewing applications and letters of interest by mid July and will be in the final selection process by August 1.

This  a great opportunity for someone who is at the right stage of their life to take advantage of it.  Our previous Americorps volunteers have gone on to Masters degrees, law school and positions within emergency management and industry.
