While the King County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet confirmed it, the man who drowned in a rafting accident on the Green River yesterday is believed to be Drew Nielsen. Multiple people are reporting to MyEverettNews.com that it was Nielsen. The Seattle Times is quoting Everett City Councilman Paul Roberts in their story. KING5 TV is quoting Brenda Stonecipher. Nielsen is a lawyer who first was elected to the Everett City Council in 2004. He won re-election to his third term this past November and currently serves on the Governmental Affairs committee, Council of Neighborhoods committee and Planning and Historical Commission committee.

Nielsen was rafting on the Green River with his wife when his raft got into trouble. According to KING 5 News,  Nielsen was wearing a life vest but it came off in the accident.  King County Sheriff’s divers recovered his body shortly after 5:30pm.
