The 15-episode third season, produced by The Asylum, follows the rise of a new breed of hybrid ‘blend’ zombies. Created and controlled by the original survivor of an experimental vaccine, they could save the world – or destroy it.
“Snohomish County has some amazing locations. Shooting here really adds things we haven’t seen in our show before,” said Karl Schaefer, writer and co-creator of the show.
The series stars Kellita Smith, Keith Allen, Anastasia Baranova, Sydney Viengluang, and Seattle locals Russell Hodgkinson and Nat Zang as series regulars. Also starring are DJ Qualls, Emilio Rivera, Ramona Young, and Joe Gatt.
The production received a grant from the Snohomish County Tourism Promotion Area (TPA). These funds are made available through the support of Snohomish County Lodging Businesses. For every applicable occupied room night, guests are assessed a small fee that is returned to Snohomish County, funding grants to stimulate economic activity and development.
“Z Nation will pump more than $1 million dollars into the local economy,” said Wendy Poischbeg, Cultural and Economic Development Manager for Snohomish County. “That includes spending on things like gas, housing, buying construction materials, food at the grocery stores, and per diem for crews spent in restaurants, other retail shops and on local services.”
The more than eighty member cast and crew is shooting for approximately 11 days over the next few weeks.
“Snohomish County is a great place to shoot,” said Steve Graham, Z Nation producer. “Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful, from the local government officials and municipal services, to local hotels and restaurants.”
