Editor’s Update 1:00pm Sunday: As you can see from the photos from the story of the guy who broke into the Snohomish County Courthouse this morning, Nobody covers breaking news like MyEverettNews.com. Thanks again for all your donations as we wind up our formal pledge drive today. You’ll still see messages reminding you of the opportunity to donate and thanks to the now 53 people who have made donations. Your contributions are TRULY appreciated. Hello. My name is Leland Dart and I’m the Publisher, Editor, Reporter, Photographer, etc. (you’re getting the idea), here at MyEverettNews.com.

First I’d like to thank you for reading this daily online look at breaking news and events in Everett, Washington. It’s been a labor of love for me since January 2011. I’d like to think that MyEverettNews.com fills a gap when it comes news coverage in Everett. We’re a resource you can read on your cell phone, tablet or computer. Whenever possible we provide photos to give a better understanding of what is happening at a scene. We’re a quick read that only takes a minute or two but also provides links if you’d like to explore further. We also try to follow up on breaking news as we can with ongoing updates as stories evolve. Our news production cycle works like this, A breaking news story is usually first posted to our Twitter Feed once we have verified what is going on. Photos are taken and the initial story is posted here on the website and then also shared on our Facebook page. Additional updates and links then continue here on MyEverettNews.com as available.

I have to say I sure appreciate getting your news tips and suggestions, your help with editing when I make a grammatical error and your kind words of encouragement. Now I’d like to ask you for one more thing. A donation. More precisely, ten dollars a year. That works out to just 3 cents per day.

Firefighter reviving dogs

This shot of an Everett Firefighter giving oxygen to two dogs is one of our most popular photos.

Other online news sites are offering yearly subscriptions for $49.00 a year to more than $150.00 a year. Without that you hit a pay wall, then no news for you. At MyEverettNews.com we’re never going to put up a pay wall. But we sure could use your support to make upgrades to the website, pay a web developer to help us fix a couple of linking problems and keep gas in the news car and electricity on for the scanners. So that’s why I’m asking everybody who is reading this right now to click the box in the upper left of this story and donate 3 cents a day. If you’d like to donate more than that, great. If you can’t, no problem. You can still help by supporting our advertisers, trying their services, mentioning MyEverettNews.com to a friend and sharing our stories.

Speaking of advertisers, we love our long term supporters including McClain Insurance, Attorney Rick Merrill and Snohomish PUD. We also appreciate our short term advertisers and would ask that if you own a business and would like to reach an audience that is interested in Everett, you consider supporting MyEverettNews.com with an ad. Same if you are an Everett association, group or event planner. We’re an affordable way to get word out on what or who you’re supporting.

I appreciate you taking a moment to read my plea for help and do hope you consider a simple donation of just 3 cents a day for a year. I’m trying hard to keep this going and know you would miss us if we were gone. It’s kind of like that restaurant you liked, meant to go back to but then were surprised when it closed.
