UPDATE: Gus Melonas, spokesperson for Burlington Northern told MyEverettNews.com Friday that the train cars were loaded but they were moving at less than 5 miles an hour at the time of the incident. He says there was no leak, none of the cars were damaged and the tracks were repaired within hours. He said the reason for the derailment is under investigation.Shortly after 6:00pm Thursday night, Everett Fire was called to the 1900 block of West Marine View Drive for a report of a leak of some type. Arriving firefighters met with Burlington Northern crews who were dealing with a derailment. Firefighters determined there was no leak and quickly cleared the scene. MyEverettNews.com has a call into Burlington Northern asking if the cars were full or empty and the reason for the cars to derail. We’ll report back when we get any information.
