See Every Potential Stop on Sound Transit’s Light Rail Extension to Everett

September 21, 2026

Everett Economy, Everett Government

Sound Transit has released their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the expansion up into Everett. See the potential stops in Everett, what they affect, and when they may be launched. The comment period is open now through November 2nd.

Anyone who has ridden the light rail from the Lynnwood station knows how much value Sound Transit’s light rail will add to Everett, but the convenience will be determined by how many stops there will be, where the stops are, and how much parking is in the area.

Subject to change over the period of the EIS, here are the potential stops, starting from North Everett, down to Lynnwood. As you look at the plans, keep in mind is that the rail will be elevated througout the expanded areas, so they may not affect existing areas as much as you might think.

Estimated time from Everett to Lynnwood will be 30 minutes and Everett to Seattle will be 60 minutes.

Everett Station

Everett Station potential stops for light rail.

It comes as no surprise the Everett Station is the final destination for the light rail expansion. Being a major transit hub for busses and trains, it only make sense that all plans revolve around getting the light rail connected to Everett Station.

Also, with the plans for a new stadium in Everett and a potential basketball arena in Tulalip, light rail will become a favorite way to attend games for those who live outside the city.

There’s already lots of parking in the area for the busses and trains. The EIS looks to add 1,000 more spots in a parking structure. The Everett Station is forecasted to have approximately 10,700
daily boardings for light rail.

As you can see in the graphic, there are 3 potential spots for Everett Station. EVT-C and EVT-D would be located closer to downtown Everett and the possible stadium and EVT-A is closer to the existing station.

Impact: 6 residential homes and 17-37 businesses, depending on the chosen spot.

Evergreen Station

Options for future Evergreen Station stop in Everett.

The SR 526/Evergreen Segment includes the area between Seaway Boulevard and the I-5/SR 526 interchange in the city of Everett.

There are three possible station locations under consideration for this stop. One alignment under consideration is on the North Side of SR 526. while the other is on the south side of SR 526.

The SR 526/Evergreen Station is forecasted to have approximately 2,900 daily boardings.

Impact: the south option would require demolition of the Casino Square shopping center. The shut down Fred Meyer location might be handy. Anywhere between 58 and 184 residential displacements would occur and between 5 and 12 businesses would be affected.

SW Everett Industrial Center Station

Station options near the airport and Boeing.

Another logical connection, the Southwest Everett Industrical Center stop would target connections to Paine Field and Boeing. In this case, these are destinations that might lower parking needs in the area.

This station would also benefit Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center transportation and and those planning trips to Kasch Park for soccer games or other activities.

One station possibility is closer to Boeing while the other is closer to Paine Field.

The SW Everett Industrial Center Station is forecasted to have approximately 1,500 daily boardings.

Impact: most options don’t affect residential, but one option displaces 52. On the business front, 30-37 businesses would be affected.

SR 99/Airport Road Station

Potential station if funding became available.

The station most likely to cause confusion for anyone hoping to get to Paine Field. This
egment is the one provisional station the Everett expansion. The station would only be built if and when funding became available.

The SR 99/Airport Road Station is only forecasted to have approximately 900 daily boardings. Given the low projected usage, many riders may prefer to skip this stop during their rides.

Impact: residential impacts between 5 and 17 displacements. Business-wise, this station/segment would affect 23 to 27 businesses.

Mariner Station

The Mariner station includes parking.

The Mariner Station includes a segment between 134th Street SW and Avondale Road in unincorporated Snohomish County. The Mariner Station would include parking for 550 vehicles in either a surface lot or structure.

This segment near 128th Street in South Everett includes turnback tracks to allow 2 Line trains to reverse direction. Impact on existing park and ride plus SWIFT bus access will make this stop’s development interesting to watch.

With approximately 25,000 residents nearby, the Mariner Station is forecasted to have approximately 4,600 daily boardings.

Impact: residential impacts between 287 and 300, plus 45 to 68 businesses affected.

Ash Way Station

Ash Way Station light rail options.

The Ash Way Segment includes the area between the I-5/I-405 interchange and 134th Street SW, near Martha Lake in unincorporated Snohomish County.

One option would provide direct access to the existing Ash Way Park-and-Ride, while the other option would be closer to potential future developable areas on the east side of I-5.

The Ash Way Station is forecasted to have approximately 4,600 daily boardings.

Impact: only one business expected to be impacted and between 38 and 63 residential impacts.

West Alderwood Segment

Alderwood Station options for light rail.

This would be the first new stop, north of the existing Lynnwood Station, near Alderwood Mall Way. Besides serving as another stop in Lynnwood, it includes a pocket track between the two mainline tracks for temporary train storage, primarily during operator breaks, inspection activities, and schedule recovery.

One option is closer to the mall, but more disruptive. The other is less disruptive, but less convenient for riders.

The West Alderwood Station is forecasted to have approximately 1,900 daily boardings.

Impact: no residential impacts, but 14 to 37 businesses would be affected.
