Craft Convicted For Murder of Everett Landlord

On Tuesday, August 25th, a jury convicted 41-year-old David Lee Craft of three felony charges in the murder of his landlord, Daniel Lytton.

Lytton was murdered in the daytime hours of Nov. 5th, 2025, at a residence in the 2600 block of Grand Ave. Residents noticed he was missing and started putting up posters, looking for him.

After receiving a tip from a city employee, and as a matter of safety, My Everett News broke the story of a body found near the library we believed was Lytton. No other media source or police force released information on the incident for 5 days.

David Lee Craft was arrested on November 11th. Investigators believed Daniel Lytton went to fix a toilet at David’s house. Detective said Lytton was strangled, stabbed, bound, and beaten. Craft then wrapped the body and waited until nighttime to move the body using a handcart to an alley blocks away.

Text messages, suicide notes, and DNA were used as solid evidence matching Craft to the crime.

Craft was found guilty on all charges, including:

• Premediated 1st-degree murder with a deadly weapon
• 2nd-degree murder in the course of a felony with a deadly weapon
• 2nd-degree murder intent to cause death

Daniel Lytton was well-liked by his residents. He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina (Randy Sears), his son, Kyle (Agata Arent), his grandchildren Vanessa, Achille, Ariel and Eric, his siblings Tony, Raphael and Rosa Lytton, and his partner of 30 years, Niki Albright.

Daniel Lytton’s obituary reads:

Daniel loved fixing the unfixable, keeping the boats running smoothly and safely far out in the Bering Sea. No challenge was too big to tackle, and he was known for staying calm in a crisis.

Though he enjoyed the comradery and technical work on the boats, Daniel began acquiring real estate so that he could retire from the sea. He approached it with his usual enthusiasm and managed to retire in 2019 to become a full-time property manager. He put his creative stamp on every remodel and renovation.
