Walter E Hall Park in South Everett
On August 5, 2026, South patrol officers responded to Walter E Hall Park for a report of an older male in a minivan following around a group of girls.
The male reportedly was trying to get the juveniles into his vehicle before a community member intervened. During the intervention and prior to police arrival, the suspect male fled in his vehicle.
Responding officers interviewed 3 girls, between ages 11 to 13. One of the juveniles stated she was walking to the park when a male pulled up in his vehicle and asked where she was going. He offered her a ride to the park, which she declined. She stated when she arrived at the park, she noticed the male appeared to be waiting there. He spoke to her further and continued to invite her into his vehicle, stating he would give her alcohol.
During the incident, a community member saw one the juveniles looked very uncomfortable and asked if she was ok. During their conversation, the van reportedly fled the park. The community member then called 911.
While police responded to this incident, an officer located a vehicle in the vicinity which matched the suspect vehicle’s description. Officers contacted the driver at the registered owner’s address. He denied being at the park and had changed his clothes. As such, the juvenile was not able to confirm the driver’s identity as the suspect.
Using License Plate Readers (LPR), officers were able to piece together a timeline of the vehicle traveling to and from the park during the incident with the juvenile females. Additionally, the suspect driver’s presence was captured in the park by a pan tilt zoom camera.
On August 13th, officers with the Violent Crime Unit (VCU) received an automated alert from the city’s LPR system, notifying them of the suspect’s vehicle traveling on W Casino Rd. They responded to the location, and the suspect was promptly taken into custody.
The male was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Luring a Minor. Child luring is a Class C Felony, carrying a maximum penalty of 5 years in prision. Inmate records indicate the suspect posted $25,000 bail.
