NW Plus Credit Union Donates $10,000 to Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center

With the help of its members and the community, NW Plus Credit Union has donated $10,000 to Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to helping children who have suffered abuse find safety, justice, and healing.

The funds were raised during a Youth Month fundraising effort in April.

In its second year, NW Plus CU’s Youth Month campaign combined member engagement, community giving, and new account growth to maximize impact. Staff encouraged monetary donations at all branch locations, while donation bins were set up to collect needed supplies from Dawson Place’s general wish list. Additionally, NW Plus CU pledged to donate $50 for every new core member who joined in April, including those opening SMART youth accounts.

Through the generosity of its members, NW Plus CU raised $5,650 in direct monetary donations, with an additional $4,350 contributed through the new member matching program, resulting in a combined $10,000 donation to Dawson Place.

“Youth Month highlights the importance of early financial education and our broader responsibility to support the well-being of young people,” said Torrie Ramos, CEO of NW Plus Credit Union. “We are deeply grateful to our membership for making this impact possible and are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

NW Plus CU believes that good money habits start early, and Youth Month provides the perfect time to lay that foundation with a local credit union. Throughout April, for each SMART Savings Account established for a person between the age of 0-18 with a parent or guardian, NW Plus CU provided up to $25 in matching funds to help jump-start their savings.

To make Youth Month even more engaging, all six NW Plus CU branches—located in Burlington, Everett, Marysville, Murphy’s Corner, Stanwood, and Smokey Point—also offered new SMART Account holders the opportunity to select a game such as Monopoly, Candy Land, or Jenga to take home. Teen members received $15 AMC or Regal gift cards as part of the promotion.
