Just after 12:23 a.m. Saturday Morning, Snohomish County 911 received multiple calls reporting an exterior fire on a second-story balcony at the Avaire Apartments on W. Casino Rd.
Callers reported flames extending toward the roof line of the apartments located at 824 W Casino Rd in South Everett.
Firefighters arrived quickly and had a quick knock on the fire within approximately seven minutes of arriving, preventing the fire from spreading further into the building.
All occupants safely evacuated prior to firefighters arriving. One person was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. Residents from four units were displaced.
This incident is an important reminder to make sure your home has working smoke alarms. Smoke alarms provide early warning and can give you critical extra time to safely escape during a fire.
As you evacuate, remember to close doors behind you if possible, which can help slow the spread of smoke and fire. Once outside, stay outside and never go back into a burning building.
